Meet Our Retail Manager, Summer Foley

Meet Our Retail Manager, Summer Foley

Drumroll, please! We’re so excited to introduce you to our newest team member, Summer Foley!

It is crazy how long we’ve known this gal. As proprietor of Yellow Wood Vintage, she’s been with Flea Style since way back when we were the Dallas Flea doing our shows at South Side on Lamar. (Who remembers that?!) Summer applied to be our intern — even though she’s beyond overqualified — after leaving her teaching job.

Unable to pass up such an awesome lady, we hired her in a jiffy and invited her to jump on this rocket ship with us! Summer is basically a vintage astronaut. By that we mean she’s an otherworldly genius when it comes to this stuff. And she’s real smart about the ways of the Internet too.

And so, without further ado, get acquainted with e-comm and retail manager Summer.

FleaStyle-Winks-LollipopFour things we should know about you:

1. I dance every day.

2. I have seen or spoken to my mother every single day for 34 years.

3. I’ve been a fashionista since the age of 7.

4. I was a competitive athlete in five sports for 15 years.

Summer Foley Flea StylePast work experience: Schlotzsky’s sandwich maker, Julio’s Market chicken fryer, model, educator.

What you like most about what you do: The hunt and finding that piece that builds confidence in others.

Funny job story: Chris Rock and crew were filming a rehearsal in preparation for the Bronner Bros. hair show for his documentary, Good Hair. I’d been hired as a hair model/performer. During this tiresome rehearsal, I mustered up enough energy to perform my signature high-kick one last time and my wig flew off. It didn’t slide off gradually. It didn’t gracefully descend. It flew! The horrific incident did not end up being part of the documentary, but it appeared in a BET series called Tears, Shears, and Beauty, in which they proceeded to play it in slow motion multiple times.

Summer Foley Flea StyleStrangest thing we’ll find in your desk drawer: A large spool of black thread and a needle.

Best advice you’ve ever received: “You know where you’ve been, but you don’t know where you’re going. Be grateful and kind to others.” Also “Words are like toothpaste. Once they’re out, they can’t be put back in.” And “Don’t open your mouth to complain unless you have a solution.”

Why you’re excited to work with Flea Style: I believe in what Flea Style stands for and where the brand is headed. Every show is a privilege, and Brittany is such an inspiration. She’s done and does it all. This is my dream. I am now what I wanted to be when I grew up.

Favorite work outfit: Palazzo pants; a relaxed top; a well-tailored, vintage blazer and wedges. It’s fashion plus function. Dress it up, dress it  down: It remains professional and flexible. And it’s a breeze to transition for after-work happy hours!

Favorite food: Pizza.

Hobbies: Hunting for all thing eclectic and aged, writing, woodworking and restoration.

Current obsessions: Essential oils and Jeffrey Campbell’s fall shoe collection.

Favorite quote: “You can only become truly accomplished at something you love. Don’t make money your goal. Instead pursue the things you love doing and then do them so well that people can’t take their eyes off of you.” ―Maya Angelou
