Shop Talk: Kitchen Tile, Tags + Contracts
They’re here! Our beautiful blush, brick, white and mint green floral Moroccan kitchen backsplash tiles are here!
We are simply smitten with the pattern and can’t wait to give our office kitchen a little pop with these pretties! Luckily this order arrived this week because the rest of the week construction-wise was far from exciting as we’re still waiting on our permit. Hurry up pleassssse, City of Dallas Zoning Department!
While this week’s progress isn’t super sexy, we did check off major to do’s. We selected our general contractor and signed on the dotted line yesterday. So now we officially have our team set and are ready to pounce the second we have our permit.
I also signed off on our lighting fixtures so when we’re at that stage of the game, I can put in our order for dozens of old-school style pendants and gooseneck sconces to ship to our door for installation.
Another highlight of the week was when our custom hang tags arrived. We love how they turned out! The front is simple and clean while the back has a little pop of fun with quotes close to our heart (i.e. “Buy me and a small business will do a happy dance”). We selected some dusty pink twine to fasten them to products. I love the overall vibe and think we nailed it to feel on brand.
Behind the scenes, I got tons off my plate to make progress from setting up utilities and negotiating construction contracts to making sets of keys and planning our grand opening festivities.
To be honest, it’s all a bit exhausting although thrilling every single day. Today I’m headed to Southern California for a little break. I’m kicking off the trip with a dear friend’s wedding and then visiting some family before I meet my team in LA for a weeklong work trip.
From a pair of shopping pop ups to a photoshoot, podcast taping and some flea market hauls — our plates are full! Plus, I’m taking them to Create + Cultivate next weekend for some inspiration and fun. I cannot wait for us to let our hair down and for me to show them a great time in my hometown!
I won’t have a Shop Talk story next week because we’re out of town but the following week get ready for a jam-packed building recap and hopefully loads of action shots from the construction site. Keep your fingers crossed for us!
