If, like us, you loved every little thing about La La Land — seriously, one of us is obsessed with this movie! — then you probably feel like Oscar night cannot come soon enough. We’re already planning our party, starting with the drinks, of course!
Since George Clooney can’t make our little shindig, we asked his delicious tequila brand (and Flea Style Summit partner Casamigos Tequila) to dish a couture sip for the big night.
We started with a cart from The Bar Cartist, a Flea Style vendor and Dallas-based source for bar carts and accoutrements run by a cool couple who are crazy for cocktails. The Aura cart is a classic with a gold finish and three mirrored shelves.
When styling your cart, as with most any space, you want a little something living and green, like a cute cactus. When you get ready to mix drinks for an awards party, a gold jigger comes in mighty handy (the only guessing games should be about Best Picture, Best Actress, etc.). A vintage brass bowl is perfect for storing small garnishes or cocktail napkins.
Items of varying heights give your cart visual interest. So does mixing materials, like a vintage brass vase and a terra cotta pot. Our vintage ceramic shot glasses offer a fun vacay vibe and conversation starter.
The second shelf of our cart is both functional and pretty. We love a gold cocktail shaker — which coincidentally looks very much like an Oscar statue — to mix drinks and some Hollywood glam crystal glasses. To bring things back down to earth, we love a chunky geode and stack of vintage books.
Oscar night typically runs looooong, so you may have the need to peruse a drink catalog during commercial breaks. Celebrity Cocktails seems a fitting choice for the night.
2 oz. Casamigos Añejo Tequila
.25 oz. agave nectar
2 dashes angostura bitters
2 dashes orange bitters
Combine all ingredients in a shaker — but don’t shake it. Stir quickly for 30-40 seconds. Strain into a rocks glass. Add 1 large ice block. Garnish with an orange twist.
And cheers! We hope your favorites take home all the statues come Oscar night.
