We met Neelofar Keshavjee at our last Dallas show when she nabbed a beautiful navy velvet blazer from our booth. We quickly fell for the pint-size early 30-something’s unique fashion taste and have since become fans of her stylish and sincere blog, The Loveliest Lily.
We hit super fan status when we read her show recap and posts about her favorite Flea Style finds! Get to know this smart and style-savvy blogger — and, visit our Dallas fall show, and bet you might just bump into this cool cat.
Where are you from and where do you live now?
I was born and raised in Dallas. I lived in Boston for about seven years for college and grad school and fell in love with city life. Ultimately I decided to settle in Dallas to be near family and friends. I moved back in 2010 and have been here since.
What is your day job?
I am an Occupational Therapist and work at a children’s hospital in Dallas. I work in an acute care setting with some fragile cases so everyday is very different. My role is to help kids increase their function, particularly with their strength, endurance, and everyday life tasks.
Describe a typical day in the life of Neelofar.
My day starts pretty early around 6 a.m. I spend time with my little pup, Dexter, while getting ready and I’m at the hospital by 7:30 a.m.! I usually head home around 4 p.m. and try to get a work out in most days. My evenings typically consist of cooking dinner, playing with Dex, Netflix binges or listening to vinyl records while catching up on Instagram, e-mails, blog posts and editing pictures before bed.
When did you start blogging and why?
I started blogging about nine months ago and have literally learned everything on the fly! If you ask anyone close to me, they’ll agree that I have always loved expressing myself through fashion and style. I just turned 30 and was going through a time of self-exploration. My sister is a photographer and we started this project together, which means a lot to me. My name actually means lily, hence the name The Loveliest Lily!
What is your favorite vintage fashion purchase?
I don’t know if this counts since I didn’t actually purchase it but it would be this vintage bib necklace that was given to me by my Aunt right before she passed away a few years ago.
Is there a summer look or trend you are loving right now?
Midi dresses! I love all that is flowy, oversized and bohemian right now.
Did you have a friend or mentor that introduced you to thrifting and flea market hunting?
Not really a specific person, but ever since I can remember, my family has loved antique shopping. I’ve also always loved walking around flea markets.
What are some of your treasure hunting tips and tricks?
Just walk around and take it all in: the passion, the positive energy and the people. I’m more of a browser and wait until something catches my eye and then I just have to have it!
How did you learn about Flea Style?
A colleague of mine — Kreuzman Custom Reclaimed — was a vendor at the fall 2016 show. Around that time, I had also heard about Flea Style from some of the vendors that I follow on Instagram. I went to support my friend but also just to check it out. Nevertheless, I was in my element immediately!
What’s your favorite thing about Flea Style?
I absolutely love the environment. The Flea Style team creates such a fun positive energy that is passed down to the vendors. I love the endless creativity and passion that everyone has for their craft. It’s honestly all so inspiring and makes supporting these small business owners so much more appealing.
You are a frequent Flea Style show shopper. What do you love about our curated markets?
Yes! One thing about Flea Style vendors is that everyone is so nice and welcoming. I have worked with Brooke from Socialite Pink most recently and I’m obsessed with her creations!
Some go-to vendors of ours?
Favorite Flea Style purchase?
I have to pick just one? I’d say it’s a tie between the Harley studded flats from Ascot and Hart, and the vintage navy velvet blazer from the Flea Style booth. They’ve both been on major repeat this year.
How do you find a balance between occupational therapy and keeping your blog current?
This is still a challenge. I work full time and even some weekends at the hospital on my feet all day! I use my time off wisely and I try to stay organized with photo shoots. I am adamantly committed to one blog post per week. If I have to sacrifice a night out with friends to write a blog post, I’ll do it!
What are your future hopes for the website? What is next for The Loveliest Lily?
I love my day job too much to ever leave and pursue The Loveliest Lily full time. I just want to keep doing what I’m doing and hope that people love my style, personality and can relate to my life. The Loveliest Lily has been an outlet to meet many local business owners, and through Flea Style, I have become so inspired by these vendors. My sister and I now have some fun new projects to pursue in the near future, including attending Flea Style Summit this fall!
