Hey, y’all! Brittany here. I just got back from two weeks in Southern California where I was born and raised. It was beautiful, fun and also a little bittersweet. My grandfather was diagnosed with a very rare cancer earlier this summer and I carved out the big chunk of time to hunker down and hang out with him as we’re extremely close.
We filled our weeks with golf cart rides around his community, my daughter giving him checkups in her Doc McStuffins costume, sofa chats in his cozy bungalow and a couple meals out when he felt up to it. It was exactly what I needed after a very emotional summer and missing him from afar.
In between chemo and our time together, I made sure to take in some serious California sunshine and fun with my husband and kids. It’s amazing how quickly your life perspective changes when you stare the reality that life is short in the eyes.
So instead of my normal California adventure — loads of flea market sweeps, antique store digging, swap meet sampling — I held my kids tight those 13 days and toted them all over my old stomping grounds of Newport Beach, Laguna Beach and Costa Mesa. As Flea Style gears up for a major retail expansion (news coming SO soon!!!), I decided to spend my days soaking up merchandising hacks, display ideas, layout opportunities and more.
I’m still overwhelmed and in awe over all of the beauty we bumped into. I thought I would share some of my favorite moments with you — and even a couple family cameos.
I hope you enjoy and cannot wait to fill you in on our exciting news as soon as the deal is inked!
