Meet Our New Retail Manager!
Ten minutes into Jessica Scharff Moran’s interview for retail and studio manager, we knew the 29-year old Sacramento native was our gal. From her wide-range of experience and mad love for handmade and vintage goods to her heart eyes for all things Flea Style, she was a natural next hire.
We are so excited for y’all to meet her at our new store opening next Saturday! From managing our amazing sales staff to prepping product, checking out customers and styling mannequins you won’t miss the sandy blonde California girl.
Without further ado, meet our girl Jess!
Three things to know about you:
1. All of my tattoos tell a story either of my family history, places I have traveled and lived or about people/art that have made an impression on me. And I am exclusively tattooed by female artists! #GirlPower
2. I’m living the newlywed life! My husband Greg and I were married in November and our Marfa-inspired wedding was just featured in the Fall/Winter issue of The Knot Texas.
3. I lived in Paris in my mid-20s and could see the Eiffel Tower sparkling at night from the windows in my hallway. I still dream about the fresh baked baguettes from the boulangerie down the street… Oui, je parle français!
Past work experience: Nordstrom, Crossroads Trading Co. in San Francisco, Urban Outfitters, 8&1 Dance Co. in Dallas, selling on Etsy and freelance blogging!
Why are you excited to work with Flea Style? When I moved to Texas four years ago, The Dallas Flea was one of the first local events I attended. I had moved from Sacramento where we had a small, but flourishing makers community and I was looking for a similar group here in Dallas. When I learned of the Flea, I grabbed my antiques dealer aunt and craft-happy mom and was one of the first in line for the show. Ultimately, The Flea inspired me beyond just the shopping and goods. After the first show, I began following many of the vendors on social media, which opened my eyes to all that Dallas has to explore, from shops and restaurants to events and museums. The vendors and DFW’s vibrant makers community inspired me to create the ‘Makers & Shakers’ series on my personal blog, where I interviewed friends with women-owned small businesses. All of this also led me to reopen my vintage shop on Etsy and encouraged me to continue pursuing my own creative passions. Watching Flea Style grow and evolve over the past four years that I have lived in Dallas has been exciting and inspiring to say the least. I am so excited to be a part of the Flea Style team and become a part of this vibrant community, inspire others as Flea Style has inspired me and help grow and nurture this incredible brand!
What do you love about retail life? I love being surrounded by inspiring products, businesses and people. The best way to grow and evolve as a creative person is to observe and learn from others, so being in a work environment that fosters that is amazing. I love meeting and interacting with different customers and vendors and seeing people leave with a huge smile on their faces. That joy is contagious! I also find the opportunity to inspire and develop team member’s strengths and interests so rewarding, on both a personal and professional level.
Describe your fashion style: To quote Donny and Marie: “A little bit country, a little bit rock ‘n roll.” Since I was a teenager I’ve always enjoyed scouring thrift stores, sales racks and garage sales with my mom in search of interesting and diverse pieces to mix and match with the mall finds. I’ve also been known to steal things from my mom’s closet (#sorrynotsorry)! My current favorite are all 1970s throwbacks I’ve been finding, but I’ll also always be a 90s child at heart. My daily look can easily vary from a vintage tee and Frye boots to an embroidered floral kimono and squash blossom necklace to Docs, socks and a dress. My current style icons include Florence Welch for her bold use of pattern and color and Chloe Sevigny (my eternal girl crush).
What are you currently listening to? The Smiths, David Bowie, Hair Metal, Classic Country, Kacey Musgraves, Surf Rock, Fleetwood Mac, 90s Hip Hop….the list goes on. I’m a very ‘music for my mood’ type of person.
What’s your favorite food? Any and everything Japanese!
Any hobbies? Calligraphy, entertaining, crafting, spending time in nature hiking or kayaking at the lake, DIY’ing things around the house with my husband, obsessing over my dog, thrifting and getting a drink and catching up with friends!
Current obsession? All the irreverently approachable food shows on YouTube, especially from Bon Appetit and Vice’s Munchies. They’re hilarious and make me want to actually get in the kitchen, which is a rare occurrence.

Something only your bestie knows about you: My guilty pleasure is super trashy reality TV. From any of the Real Housewives to various crime documentary series, I love them all!
Wake-up time: 7:15 a.m.
Bedtime: The goal is always before midnight.
Coffee or tea: Sumatra or dark roast coffee with a splash of cream

Dogs or cats: ALL the animals! I have two cats and a pup and have been known to rescue everything from injured squirrels to baby possums. (We named her Opal and my husband wanted to keep her. Hard No.)

Meet Jessica at our grand opening Saturday June 2nd from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m.! You can also find her on the floor most weekdays. We’re open 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday.
