7 Questions with Our Podcast Guest + Luxury Garage Sale CEO Trish Lukasik
Have you listened to our latest podcast with Luxury Garage Sale CEO Trish Lukasik? We were blown away by her advice-packed session with our founder and how open and candid she was with meaty small biz advice.
We all feel defeated or low, but Trish is a big believer you can’t let people see you sweat. This interview with the storied Fortune 500 company exec — that’s now happily in the start-up world — covers everything from ways to fund your idea to leadership tips, hiring hacks and ways to be successful in retail today.
Do not skip this episode with Trish if you’re building a brand or considering the idea! And, don’t miss Luxury Garage Sale’s amazing fashion wares at their stores in Dallas and Chicago — as well as their Houston pop up open through December 15th — or online.
Favorite motto/quote/life advice: “Lead with yes.” It opens up possibilities everywhere you turn.
Book currently on your nightstand (or that you want to buy for it): There’s honestly a stack of business books, all of which are 30-percent read. But give me a good historical fiction novel or mystery and I will read through it in two days!
If you didn’t do your current job, what would you be doing and why? I think I would be running for office. I am passionate about the evolving role women play in our society and want to do my part to make sure that we are continuously striving for equal work, equal pay and an equal playing field.
Describe your picture perfect day off: I would start by getting up and moving and get in a great workout (yoga sculpt or spin probably).
Then I’d grab a quick breakfast, read something interesting (Wall Street Journal or one of the four daily newsletters I subscribe to via Fortune), grab a coffee with a friend, watch one of my sons on a field play and cheer like crazy, probably embarrassing them. Then I’d work on renovating our old house and then go out to a great dinner with some close friends. I’d call it a night by 10:30 p.m.!
Current playlist or radio station on repeat? I listen to podcasts or news radio during my commute to stay up to date (Recode/Decode, Serial, MSNBC on XM Radio).
If money was no object, what would you spurge on for yourself? Great global travel experiences!
If you could score a mentor session with anybody for an hour, who would you want to sit down with and why? Ruth Bader Ginsburg. I recently watched the movie RBG and I consider her a true hero and a tremendous example of possibilities with perseverance.
