Charlie Price makes women beautiful for a living as a celeb hair stylist with over two decades in the business. But his Pittsburg childhood and 20s were far from glamorous dropping out of school and battling drug and alcohol addiction between hair gigs.
On our podcast this week, we sit down with the inspiring entrepreneur to learn about his blue collar roots, stumbling into the hair styling world, road to sobriety, life-changing decision to move to Dallas (where he didn’t know a soul!) and building the business of his dreams. Tune in below and read a few more fun facts about this inspiring entrepreneur.
Favorite motto? Anytime someone asks me “how are you?” my response is “another day in paradise.” Some other words I like to live by: “Never forget where you came from.”
Did you always know you wanted to be in the hair industry? Being a rebellious teenager led me into an apprenticeship and there I found my passion. Being a straight male I found that I could work with women quite easily!
What is your favorite thing about working in the industry? Every day is a new day with new challenges, new clients, new failures and new successes.
Describe your picture-perfect day off: Waking up in Austin and sleeping in until 7 a.m. (I usually wake up at 5 a.m.). Then I would go for coffee, hit the greenbelt with my puppy Leon and girlfriend for a couple hours, have more coffee and a late brunch and then Netflix and chill. I am learning to give myself more “time” and I am enjoying it.
What musician or band is currently on repeat? I am a hardcore Red Hot Chili Peppers fan but I love Mariam Hill at the salon.
Dream client? I have had the opportunity to work with celebrities, bloggers, influencers and nothing is as rewarding as turning the typical Dallas butter yellow blonde into a gorgeous effortless blonde. So I would honestly say, anyone I have not worked with before!
If money was no object, what would you splurge on for yourself? A private jet. Not for status, but for time!
If you could score a mentor session with anybody for an hour, who would you want to sit down with and why? I would love the opportunity to sit down with my dad. He passed away long before I was an adult and I would love to have that moment.
