Last Friday, we finally opened our doors back open in Deep Ellum and launched our much-anticipated hat bar in the middle of the store! After two weeks of completely being shut down to renovate the store, it felt so good to see customers again and watch their reaction to all of the hard work we poured into the space.
The store is absolutely beautiful! About a third of the floor is dedicated to our selection of hats and accessories to make them one-of-a-kind. We also have a collection of ready-made selections handmade by our team!
Sprinkled throughout the rest of the space is a mix of our vendors’ loot (paper goods, jewelry, decor), vintage clothing/accessories, home goods, my flea market finds and our new clothing selections. The eclectic mix is cohesive, cool and totally unique in retail and makes each store completely one-of-a-kind.
Our antique bar looks so good on the floor! The 100-year old design is perfectly paired with new rose gold barstools (hello, Overstock.com find!) and the glitzy lights (they hail from World Market and Wayfair, by the way) we hung above. Instead of placing them in a straight line like they were designed to do, I split them up to create a more fun user-experience, especially when we host parties. (Want to host one? Learn more here!)
To anchor them, I added a vintage tool chest I found in Canton a couple months ago. Not only does the chest have tons of needed storage, but it also had a perfect blank blank canvas to vinyl our name. It turned out so fun and adds that perfect Flea Style unique touch!
To pull everything together, we added more special signage throughout the store. We also hit up our storage unit for cool fixtures to merchandise everything in a unique way.
Enter vintage coat racks turned hat stands. Old floor lamps that now moonlight as hat hangers. Old thread spools that now prop up hats as customers shop.
One of my favorite fixtures is an old mechanic turnstile that we packed with vintage match books. It looks cool and is so functional as customers spin it looking for the perfect book.
We’re over the moon with how the store turned out and how much our customers are loving it. Grand opening day was a smash and seeing everyone’s reaction to the new look, vibe and bar still has us swooning.
To keep up with demand, we’re already ordering lots more product, working with vendors on re-stocks and scheduling more flea market treks to keep the floor fresh and constantly full of unique finds.
We’re thrilled to be back open daily 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and hope to see you in the store soon!
