The week is finally here: Our exclusive Stetson hat collection launches this Wednesday! We couldn’t be more excited about this collaboration!
Back in January when we opened our first hat bar in Frisco, Stetson reached out about expanding our offerings and including their heritage line. To say this was a dream call, is a huge understatement!
We jumped at the opportunity to meet up at the Texas headquarters, and explore ways to work together.
When we arrived at the factory, it was clear a custom hat was the way to go. Upon learning more about the process, we also ordered some items from Stetson’s wholesale line to bridge the gap until our custom items would arrive.
We instantly started on the ordering process to get our special, exclusive hats. We decided a classic pinched crown style was best. For colors, we wanted to push the envelope.
Instead of an ivory, we went with mist which has a hint of silvery/green (as we developed this color, we decided to dust it with dirt for a more distressed look and are in love). We went more golden than cognac for a medium brown hue. Green is my favorite color so we had to add to the queue and fell in love with the most amazing hunter green/peacock blue. Pink was also a must (our perfect dusty blush color is so custom it won’t arrive until the fall). We scored the most perfect taupe/gray, too.
Once our colors were confirmed, we designed all the fun details from the silky lining color (classic black with a gold font) to the brim and crown ribbon trim. This might sound simple, but there are so many choices it really was a huge labor of love and something we thought meticulously about. You’ll find most of our hats are pretty classic but we jazzed up the green with a navy trim and we’re totally smitten.
In typical Flea Style fashion, we wanted to put our touch on things as much as possible. So instead of Stetson’s classic black bow inside the hat, we asked to hand dye them pink and they agreed. They turned out so special and cute!
Over the past couple months, I’ve been in constant contact with Stetson and our hat designer Claudia. I’ve made several trips to the factory to check on our hats, see them on the line and watch them being made. It’s been the most amazing experience. I pinch myself daily that this is all happening!
In addition to our hats, we’ve also created a line of custom enamel hat pins. We took three of our most popular Flea Style designs — a rainbow, longhorn and cactus — and turned them into a cool stick pin that will decorate the hats. We worked on a few versions of each — tweaking colors, sizing, etc. — and are so in love with the way they turned out.
Last week, our first batch of hats arrived and the team has been working on unboxing them, tagging them and prepping them for distributing to our stores.
From there, Carolyn, our visual merchandiser, has been carefully putting them on display along with our pins and other accessories collected for our big launch this week.
Speaking of, here is the scoop! Claudia is joining us at both stores to help design and decorate customers’ hats along with our talented in-store stylists! On Wednesday we’ll all be in Frisco and on Thursday we’ll take over Deep Ellum. In addition to our hats, pins and accents, we’ll have free sips for all and Stetson swag with a hat purchase.
To celebrate, today we kicked off the festivities with a hat giveaway for our beautiful dusted mist style! See our Instagram to enter! We’ll continue to roll out fun giveaways and swag to toast this collaboration so keep visiting our stories and main page for all the fun.
We’re so excited to offer these labors of love to y’all in store — and online! Look for them on shopfleastyle.com starting next week.
We’re just getting started on our custom hat journey. If there is a style, color or idea you want to share as we expand our offerings, please DM us on Instagram. We’re all ears!
We hope to see you at our launch parties this week! Hats off to this amazing collaboration and new addition to our Flea Style hat bar story!
