Fridays with Flea Style: Magnolia Assistant Visual Director Joanna Gott

Joanna Gott's Instagram profile reads: Loves denim jackets, Christmas music, dance parties and coffee. So, clearly, we're cut from the same cloth as the Assistant Visual Director at Magnolia in Waco.

The social media platform is actually how we met the Bellevue, Washington native. She's not only a big fan of our vintage clothing and buys things from us via direct messages often, but she has visited the store and has been so encouraging about our vision and mission.

Joanna has a dream job creating seasonal merchandising plans for all Magnolia brick-and-mortar entities from general ideas to product call outs and installing the visual elements. Listen to her podcast to learn more about her incredible career journey!

Favorite quote: "All your dreams can come true if you have the courage to pursue them," by Walt Disney.

What book is currently on your nightstand? "The Connected Child: Bring hope and healing to your adoptive family" by Karyn B. Purivs and David R. Cross and "Homebody: A Guest to Creating Space You Never Want to Leave" by Joanna Gaines.

If you didn’t do your current job, what would you be doing and why? I honestly can’t imagine doing anything else!

Describe your picture perfect day off: It would include a long run outside, lots of coffee, scoring some bargains at a flea market and getting a jump start on a DIY project.

Current playlist or radio station on repeat?  Christmas music all day every day! Also, the “A Star is Born” soundtrack.

If money was no object, what would you spurge on for yourself? Traveling all over the world!

If you could score a mentor session with anybody for an hour, who would you want to sit down with and why? Betty Halbreich (the 90-year old legendary Bergdorf Goodman personal shopper). Her life story and how she got into the career of being a personal stylist (before that job/career even really existed) is fascinating. I love how for her it’s not about the current trends or what everyone else is doing, it’s about cutting through all that surface stuff and getting to what truly makes you feel and look good.

Don’t miss Joanna’s entire podcast. It’s so good! Check it out along with other Fridays with Flea Style episodes on iTunes here.
