A couple weeks ago, we touched down in Southern California for a five-day company retreat. Our schedule was jam-packed with engagements from a pair of trunk shows to a shopfleastyle.com photo shoot and educational conference.
I wanted to treat the team to a fun vacation that also helped promote our company across my California roots. We had the best time! Here's a little peek into the fun.
I picked up the team at LAX and made a quick pit stop to shop for some vintage treasures. After scoring a cool knitted clutch, breezy dress and some pottery, we celebrated their arrival over margaritas at Gratitude, my favorite Newport Beach watering hole. After that, we parked it at our Corona del Mar digs and met my family for dinner. It was the perfect relaxing day to kick off our adventure!
On Thursday, we started our day with blogger and YouTube star Beth Jones of B. Jones Style. We met her on Balboa Island for a few hours to shoot some pretty vintage clothing pieces she pulled aside for our e-commerce site.
Beth and I quickly changed inside my car and then hit the streets to shoot the looks. The team helped every step of the way from shooting and filming to styling the outfits. It was a team effort that turned out great (shop the looks here)! After the shoot, we kicked back over a Mexican feast at Cafe Rio (best burrito bowls eva!).
Up next: A private trunk show in Newport. We unloaded hundreds of items for the event, which was at a beautiful bungalow on the bay. About 60 people showed up on the unusually cool evening. Our tassel earrings were by far the biggest hit! Once we wrapped up, we met with former Summit panelist and local Kate Levering for small plates and lots of wine on Lido Isle.
On Friday we packed our ride and moved the party up to LA. On the way up the coast, we stopped in Manhattan Beach for the best lunch of the trip! We ate at the cutest little dinner called Uncle Bill's Pancake House and chowed down on classic American fare from burgers to tuna melts. The meal was almost delicious as the ocean views!
After lunch, we continued up the coast until we hit Show Me Your Mumu in Venice. We once again unloaded our items and set them up for a cute little pop up with lots of peach sangria and margaritas with our favorite Mumu gals. The show was a success and we met a few of our devoted West Coast shoppers, too, which was so fun.
Once we packed up, we grabbed a bite and headed to downtown LA to rest up for a very long Saturday...
Saturday was Create & Cultivate day! We were so excited to see the conference, which is loaded with panels, meals, pop up shops and all the kombucha you can stomach! From 8 a.m. until 9:30 p.m., we soaked up every second of the huge event.
From Justina Blakeney and Busy Phillips to Kim Kardashian West, we listened to dozens of girl bosses tell their stories and business advice. It was a great way for us to learn from people we admire and soak up a little inspiration. But by the end of Kim K's talk we were pooped! We parked it at our hip hotel restaurant for some dinner and cocktails and then hit the hay.
On our final day we slept in a bit before visiting our pals over at Junk in the Trunk Vintage Market (did you hear their recent podcast? Listen here!). Coley and Lindsey were hosting their Pomona show that day and we wanted to say hello and see their beautiful pop up. Afterwards we had a delicious brunch and bottle of rose before hitting LAX. It was the perfect ending to a perfect trip!
Now that we're back in Dallas, we're in full-on spring show planning mode! Keep checking back here for all the updates, details and fun plans we have in store for y'all!
