Shop Talk: Bring The Heat!

Shop Talk: Bring The Heat!

From pretty vintage rugs to a fancy heating and air conditioning system, lots of updates rolled into the new headquarters over the past two weeks.

Last Monday, a scissor lift landed on site to hoist up our huge HVAC system into the ceiling rafters. Electrical work continues and final pieces were put in place before sheetrock went in.

I selected countertop slabs (hello, creamy marble) and all paint finishes. For every project, I create a paint schedule that details every color and finish from the baseboards to ceiling. I went with classic hues that are in our various projects from our Good Things Happen Here coral (exterior doors choice) to our classic, go-to warm white for all the walls and rafters.

Sheetrock went up last week and finally made the building feel like a real headquarters. Although I finally have my first four walls to call an office, I kept one original brick to honor the history of the building. Roof repairs are currently in the works and the water heater is being installed.

Yesterday, tile started in the bathroom. I had a surplus of our Heirloom Haul 4x6 beveled golden subway tile so I used it to honor the restaurant -- and save some moolah. I ordered our classic Heirloom Haul tan and white palm wallpaper to go above the 48" backsplash to really tip our hat to our Frisco eatery.

Lots of eye candy has also started to show up. I bought several vintage Turkish rugs for our hallways, common area and my office. I'm. In. Love!!! I ordered all online so it's always a gamble how they'll look in person but they're absolutely perfect and will make the spaces so warm and boho-chic.

Our kitchen hardware -- inexpensive aged brass pull bars from Lowe's -- arrived and will look fantastic on our light gray cabinets. Light fixtures have also landed from giant rope pendants to industrial tracks.

I scheduled installers for early next month and have started mapping out some unique decor ideas from a layered mirror wall inspired by our cash wrap moments in each store to a mood board area for our buying team.

It's all coming together and so exciting. I'm pumped to have this space complete in time to kick off the new year fresh, inspired and organized. It's going to be a game changer for our company, crew and future.
